Pattaya began planning for its official Loy Krathong celebration, which will take place at Lan Po Public Park in Naklua Nov. 6.
About 300 Pattaya School No. 2 students were given an introduction to traditional Thai art at an “Amazing Thailand Culture” event organized by the city and Pattaya Cultural Council.

Pattaya School No. 1 brought lesson learning to the playground with its annual Sports Days. Deputy Mayor Wattana Chantanawaranon opened the Dec. 11-13 competition, which saw students split into four squads to compete in football, volleyball, tennis, rattan ball, petanque and other outdoor sports.
Pattaya officials say a city campaign to push people to use more natural materials in the Loy Krathong floats has been successful and hope this year’s holiday will see another decrease in foam use.
Pattaya will award more than 50,000 baht in scholarships to young girls competing in its Loy Krathong “Nu Noi (Young Miss) Noppamas” pageant Sunday at Bali Hai Pier.
