The annual Songkran festival, which heralds the traditional beginning of the Thai New Year, begins today throughout the country.  Locally, however, the official celebrations take place nearly a week later, on April 18 in Naklua and April 19 in Pattaya.

Pattaya welcomes in the “Year of the Dragon” Sunday with its annual Chinese New Year festival in Naklua.
The regional head of Thailand’s national police force dispatched 339 law-enforcement officers and volunteers to redouble efforts to keep the Pattaya area safe during the holidays.
