So far spared the flooding that has devastated much of the country, Chonburi has begun taking thousands of evacuees from Bangkok and central Thailand.
Culture Minister Sukumol Kunplome inspected damage and handed out relief packages to 600 Phanatnikhom District families affected by last month’s record flooding.

HRH Princess Soamsawalee opened a charity walk-a-thon to raise money for cervical cancer research. The princess was welcomed to Central Festival Pattaya Beach Aug. 15 by Chonburi Gov. Wichit Chatpaisit and top judicial and police officials and doctors from several cancer-related associations.
Students from five Pattaya city schools and the Soi Kophai Community won tens of thousands of baht in prizes and plenty of accolades for their efforts to stay off drugs at the latest To Be No. 1 Aerobics & Dancercise Championship and Youth Contest.
Thousands of people will gather on Beach Road to honor HM the King May 31 as part of Chonburi’s recruitment of more than 120,000 “volunteers to protect the monarchy.”
