PSC golf from The Outback Golf Bar

Tuesday, Sept. 11, Pattaya C.C. – Stableford

Eleven Outbackers here at Pattaya Country Club, many of whom are members, including Chad our organiser, who right now is playing some of his best golf.  He had 38pts here on Monday and did it again today to win by two from Jim Payne.

The regular girls are notably absent, except for Seesa (Mam) probably because they find the back nine for them, which is the men’s white tee, very difficult and their scores are usually low.

Welcome back to Bob Pearce after summering in a wet and cold UK and there were no ‘2’s.

1st Barry Chadbourn (19) 38pts

2nd Jim Payne (27) 36pts

3rd Nigel Cannon (22) 34pts

Wednesday, Sept. 12, Plantation B & C – Stableford

An excellent turnout of 16 players to play the B (Tapioca) & C (Pineapple) loops from the white tees.  After the heavy overnight rain the course had stood up pretty well but we decided to play ‘winter rules’; lift, clean & place.

Welcome to Nick Odnoral, a PSC member playing with us for the first time and well played to Paul Bourke, for his fine 38pts to take the win, ahead of playing partner, Mark Riggall on 37.

There was one ‘2’ from Jim Bryan on B7 (Tapioca).

1st Paul Bourke (9) 38pts

2nd Mark Riggall (15) 37pts

3rd Jim Brackett (6) 35pts

Friday, Sept.  14, St. Andrews – Stableford

Thirty one Outbackers travelled today to St Andrews due to Green Valley having a competition.

With a gentle breeze blowing, it was a pleasure to play one of the best courses around for the same rate as we pay at Green Valley.

The fairways were in great condition today with plenty of grass to get your club under the ball.  The greens had been lightly sanded but this didn’t deter the scores today as one can see below.

It seems we have a set of twins aboard with Sugar Ray and myself (Suzi) playing off exactly the same handicap, scoring the same points and after today’s competition we still have identical handicaps.  Somebody please cut off the apron strings…

Jim Brackett scored an excellent, two over gross 76 (remember par here is 74) for a total of 40pts, to just squeeze out Bob Newell, also playing off 6, with 39.  Behind those two were four players all on 36, with Dennis Pelly & Paul Greenaway filling the last two podium places on count back.

In Div B, 36pts didn’t even make the podium, as the aforementioned Suzi & Sugar could only be split on count back, both scoring a fantastic 42pts.  Third went to Greg Hill with 41 and Eddie Beilby in fourth on 39.

Finally, welcome back to Tim Knight, Martin Kingswood, Allan Murdoch & Mark Hurwood and also to Niklas Bloomquist, having his first game with the Outback.

There were five ‘2’s from Martin Kingswood (3rd), Kevin Hamilton, Tim Knight & John Stafford (10th) & Kev Waycott (17th).

Div A (0–14)

1st Jim Brackett (6) 40pts

2nd Bob Newell (6) 39pts

3rd Dennis Pelly (10) 36pts

Div B (15+)

1st Sugar Ray Handford (19) 42pts

2nd Suzi Lawton (19) 42pts

3rd Greg Hill (18) 41pts
