The Under 13 Boys FOBISIA team from St. Andrews International School attended a warm-up tournament in Khao Yai recently to aid their preparations for the upcoming FOBISIA Games, to be held in Bangkok in March.  St. Stephen’s International School hosted a combined football and basketball tournament played over three days against St. John Mary International School, KIS International School, Ascot International School and St. Andrews Green Valley.

The St. Andrews’ boys played very positive and skilful football to go through the entire tournament unbeaten, conceding only one solitary goal in the pool matches, but due to goal difference they were unable to make the final.  However, they completed a two-game clean sweep of St. John Mary International School and were victorious in the bronze medal play-off.

The basketball tournament continued the strong tournament rivalry between Green Valley and KIS International School.  Unbeaten through the pool matches, Green Valley met KIS in the final only to lose by a solitary point in a hectic last quarter of the game.  There were a lot of positives to take from the tournament however and the boys showed great character and determination to come back from a final quarter deficit to almost snatch victory.

Three players from St Andrews were awarded places in the tournament teams selected by the coaches from all of the participating schools: Wesley Pankhurst was selected in the football tournament team and Gerardo Madrid was selected in the basketball team, while Yujun Lee was selected for both.

Congratulations to all the boys for their contributions to the successes during the weekend.
