In conjunction with the finals of the WTA Pattaya Women’s Open taking place over the same weekend, PTT held a tennis clinic for a group of junior players at the Dusit Thani hotel in Pattaya on the morning of Feb. 11.

Held as part of PTT’s ‘Sports Lover’ campaign, the budding tennis stars, including both Thai and foreign youths, were given a special coaching session from former Thai national team tennis player Withaya Samrej.  Drills included basic warm-up exercises, ball hitting skills using different tennis stokes, and a lesson in tactics.

Following the clinic, the youths received prime seats in the Dusit Thani tennis stadium to watch Daniella Hatuchova take on Maria Kirilenko in the Women’s Open final the following day, and were also given a tour of PTT’s plant in Rayong and HRH Princess Sirindhorn’s herbal garden and reef planting project.

The primary aim of the event was to encourage youngsters to become more involved in tennis as a recreational sport and also help them to foster dreams of one day gracing the pro ranks for themselves.
