Due to my ever increasing “craft” disease I had forgotten to include Robert our trip on April 7. Fortunately he reminded me the night beforehand that he was attending and, because this made 9 for the trip, I decided not to go.
On arriving at Khram Marine the next morning, I discovered someone else on my list had not booked for the trip. As I had not brought my fishing gear with me, I could not go and the boat finally departed with 7 members. I have limited information about this trip other than all participants had a good time and were happy with their catch.
A special charter trip was arranged on April 10 for Phil and Nat, regular monthly participants, and their friends. Again I have little info other than I am informed a trawling line 100 pound strength snapped when hooking some unidentified marine creature. Until now I was unaware we had whales in this region. The day was voted a success with plentiful good sized fish.
On April 12 seven of us departed at 07:00 from Khram Marine on a beautiful day. We welcomed Solly and Daeng, two new members who intend to participate in future trips.
With one exception, yours truly, all had excellent catches including 5 plus big grey about the 2 kilo size. Jeff insisted he had the most fish and heaviest bag while Peter was sure his and Sommai’s catch more than doubled Jeff’s. I wasn’t interested in resolving the dispute when my miserable catch of around 4 kilos was the worst in 2 years.
The dreaded Songkran disease struck our trip on April 21 and our attendance dropped to 4. Nevertheless we all did well with 10–15 kilo bags, which included our prized big greys (6) and larger than usual snapper, grouper and yellow tail. Many of which were over one pound in weight. Great pan size and delicious.
The boat had its annual maintenance and overhaul last month and I am pleased to report it is in pristine condition, paint work excellent and the engine just purrs. Regrettably I lost my camera after the last trip in March and to date have not replaced it. Accordingly, with apologies, no photos.
Future trips are planned on May 10, May 24 and May 29. Contact me (Dene) on 081 862 6279 for booking.
