Rob was a founder member and Team Manager of Pattaya Cricket Club whose youthful exuberance, commitment and dedication ensured PCC is the success it is today. He will be fondly remembered for his big smile, endless story telling of cricketing achievements from yesteryear, Cajun chicken, sugar cane and of course, his famous square cut.
Elfrado Roberts (1945-2012)
I particularly remember an instance when as captain of the opposing side we had 3 gullies, 3 slips and 2 cover points and still Rob managed to find the boundary where we should have had a fourth slip. However, he edged the very next ball to be caught behind and was heard muttering to himself as he trudged dejectedly off the field “how did I get out to Earl? I will never hear ‘de end of ‘dis”. Earl made sure he did not!
Rob was a hugely popular and influential figure within the club and his presence, words of wisdom and encouragement will be greatly missed by all his cricketing family, friends and colleagues.
Our sincere condolences are with his sons Ashley and Leon.
