IPGC golf from Tara Court Golf Group

Sunday, Jan. 27, Mt. Shadow - Stableford

Back at our usual Mountain Shadow today and after a slight delay while they sorted out caddies we got off around 10 mins after our allotted tee time.  There seems to be a shortage of caddies in a lot of the courses this year.

Everything went smoothly and we got around in just a little over 4hrs, which is very good.  While it looked like it was going to rain a few times thankfully it stayed away and we got around dry.

Sunday’s winner - John Fetherston.Sunday’s winner - John Fetherston.

Once again only one player managed to beat his handicap on this difficult course and that was John Fetherston who had a very good 38pts off his 11 handicap.  We had 3 players on 33pts with Terry Kelly coming second on count back from Teddy Lodge third and Phelim Moran fourth.  Jack Behan came in fifth with 32pts.

Terry Kelly had the only ‘2’ of the day and scooped the pot so he had a good pay day!

1st John Fetherston (11) 38pts

2nd Terry Kelly (15) 33pts

3rd Teddy Lodge (9) 33pts

4th Phelim Moran (10) 33pts

5th Jack Behan (15) 33pts

‘2’s:  Terry Kelly

Tuesday, Jan. 29, Greenwood – Stableford

Today we played at Greenwood and because of all the rain on the previous day we decided to play off the yellow tees as we expected the fairways to be wet and playing long.  Also they told us carts were being restricted to the paths as the course was too wet to allow them on the fairways.

Actually when we got out on the course it was in excellent condition and had dried out very well.  We played A and B courses and Ted Morris came in with an excellent 41pts to win by a clear margin.  In second place on his first visit with us was Ger Linehan with 38 and his friend and playing partner Pat Culloty was third with 37.  In fourth place with 36pts was Jack Behan, on his last game with us before heading off to Australia to continue his holiday.  Jack beat Jack Fetherston on a count back.

Peter Murphy and Joe McArdle shared the 2’s pot

Back in O’Gara’s Bar and Restaurant we said good bye to Brian Finn who is going home this week.

1st Ted Morris (15) 41pts

2nd Ger Linehan (17) 38pts

3rd Pat Culloty (20) 37pts

4th Jack Behan (11) 36pts

5th John Featherston (11) 36pts

‘2’s:  Peter Murphy, Joe McArdle.
