Moe Deverdenne scored 53 stableford points to win the 4th annual Hoser Memorial Golf Tournament, this year played once again at Plutaluang Golf Course on Friday, May 15.  Seventeen golfers turned out for this year’s tournament, which has been gaining in popularity each year.

Fifty-three points might sound like a lot, and indeed it is, but to reach such a lofty score one must certainly work for it.  In this case, for this tournament, that means much bending at the elbow.  Following last year’s format, each player stated his non-alcoholic handicap, and for each alcoholic beverage consumed on the course, 1 stroke was added to determine the player’s final handicap.  And for sure this year, drinks were selling like pancakes.

Once all the golfers were off on their quest for the Hoser Memorial Trophy, myself and Wild Bill Freeman circled the course to keep them well stocked with additional “handicaps” from our traditional beer cart.

After the tournament everyone made it back for the awards presentation at The Haven for delicious food, even more beverages, and the now-famous Hoser shakes.  Thanks to Stephen and Lumyai.

Joining Moe in the winner’s circle were – Benny “The Nerd” Hansen, who finished runner-up with 45 points off his original 26 handicap, Neil Sandilands in third with 43 points off his original handicap of 36, and with the help of a bottle of vodka, Ken Cooke finished fourth with 42 points off his original handicap of 24.

The final stop on the journey was a migration to TQ on Beach Road, where Woody presented Moe with a bottle of vodka plus setup and Benny with a TQ Masters golf shirt.  Thanks from all of us Woody.
