114th PSC Monthly Members Golf Tournament

Friday, May 18 – Greenwood Golf Club

Like many others, Joe Mooneyham and Nigel Cannon woke up early to the sound of rain! However the nearer they got to Greenwood the rain stopped and it looked as if it was to be fine day.  For the first couple of hours it was – then later on play was interrupted twice due to heavy rain – however all players completed their rounds.

There were 64 competitors with 3 Men’s flights and the Ladies of which 8 played.  There were a number of new faces today which was good to see.

Double winner.Double winner.

The course was in reasonable condition although the recent coring and sanding of the greens left many players unhappy.

Pick and place ‘through the green’ was the order of the day following the recent rain, and carts were on paths only.

There was a battle for the low gross this month between Mike Allidi (2) and Phil Mitchell (7) both scoring a fine 77, with Phil getting the nod on count back.

Flight winners were ‘A’ Thierry Petrement (11) 72 net, ‘B’ Bill Johnston (16) with 39 points, ‘C’ Phillippe Pruvot (21) with 38 and Noi Emmerson (17) won the Ladies with 37 points.

The presentation was at Dicey Riley’s who once again provided an excellent buffet enjoyed by those who were there, which due the rain resulted in a reduced group of only 40.

PSC’s regular MC Nigel Cannon introduced Golf Chairman Joe Mooneyham who expressed his appreciation to all those playing today and his thanks to Nigel and William for their assistance.

Joe reminded all that the June monthly is at Phoenix on Friday 22nd and sign-up sheets are in the PSC office.

Following the presentation of the prizes and the lucky draw it was home time.  In the rain!

The full results are on the web-site and on the notice board at the PSC office.
