McDao teams strike at Rotary Plutaluang charity bowling tourney

The Rotary Club of Plutaluang raised more than 60,000 baht to build a new public library at a charity bowling tournament held in Pattaya last weekend.

Chief Petty Officer 1st Class Visanu Tosombut, head of Plutaluang Sub-district, opened the March 29 match at the P.S. Bowl center above Tops supermarket in central Pattaya.  21 three-person teams made of Rotarians, Lions Club members, Sattahip business owners and the Plutaluang Wittaya Club all took part.

A group under the umbrella of the “McDao” label bowled a plethora of strikes to sweep all but one category in the tournament.  The McDao 1 team took the total-pins title with 2,114, earning the Pattaya Mayor Khun Ittipol Kunplome’s Cup, the McDao 2 team finished second and, keeping it in numerical order, the McDao 3 team took third and the McDao 4 team fourth.  The team with the highest individual score was the McDao 4 team.

The only other team to win an award on the evening was the Rotary Club of Plutaluang with 699 points in the women’s category.

Winner’s cups were presented by Rotary District 3340 Gov. Suwan Sanphakorn, Deputy Gov. Chokchai Muanthamai, and Rotarian Ula Hericson.  Six other awards were also presented, including the “booby prize” trophy and a morale and support prize, the President Kohtang Samunjaikhid Cup.

The proceeds from the event will be used for developing a library for children and families, which is a project organized by the Club every year.  Exact proceeds have not been tabulated yet, but 63,000 baht in registration fees were collected and additional donations were made at the event.

Rotary fundraisers for charity are all about fun and fellowship.
