Monday, April 20, Pattana – Stableford

We were all pleased to see the A course has finally re-opened here and today we were allocated this nine with the B to follow on the homeward stretch.

We had two divisions out with the cut at 18 and still in form after his win in Khao Yai, Tim Hake, now playing off 17, topped division 1 with 41 points.  Ian Speirs came in second on 38 points and Chris Voller took third with an even par 36.

Kari Aarnio’s 37 was the best score in division 2, with Bruce Gardner claiming second one point behind and Steven Cliff filled third spot with 35.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Tony Bless, Ian Speirs and Chris Voller (2), and (Div 2) Bruce Gardner (2), Chris Slota and Matti Ylitalo.

Ian Speirs birdied A3 and Chris Voller B3 to split the 2’s pot in division 1 and Bruce Gardner and Tim Hake did likewise in the second flight with birdies on B3.

Wednesday, April 22, Plutaluang – Stableford

We were on the N and W nines today and we teed off 20 minutes ahead of schedule under threatening clouds but thankfully the rain stayed away.

Paul Hartley recorded the best score of the day, 36 points, to win division 2 ahead of Miss Nut in second on 31.  Chris Voller topped the podium in division 1 with a meager 31 points and Dannie Larsen filled the runner-up spot on 30.

Near pins were shared by (Div 1) Dannie Larsen and Chris Voller, and (Div 2) Paul Butler and Paul Hartley.

Tony Bless birdied the W3 and Dannie Larsen the lighthouse hole to share the top flight ‘2’s pot and there were none in division 2.

Friday, April 24, Eastern Star – Stableford

Once again we had two divisions out with the cut set at handicap 17 and below.  After Wednesday’s round Paul Hartley was still in form and motored to victory in division 2 with a fine 40 points.  Iain Walsh came in second, beating Steven Cliff 20/18 on the back nine after they both finished on 37 points each.

In division 1, Frank Kelly posted the winning score of 39 points, and playing in the same group Paul Butler took second three points behind and Colin Aspinall was third with 35.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Frank Kelly (3) and Tony Thorne, and (Div 2) Paul Butler (3).

There were no ‘2’s in division 1 but Paul Butler was a happy chappie after he birdied the 6th hole to claim the triple rollover pot in the second division.

The greens here have still improved over the past week and are almost back to normal

Note: The Hua Hin courses have now been finalized for our departure on the 9th May; Majestic on the Monday, Sea Pines on the Tuesday and The Banyan and Black Mountain on the Thursday and Friday.
