PSC golf from The Caddyshack

Monday 24th Feb at Green Valley enabled us to have 2 flights due to a good turnout of players.  Leading the way in ‘A’ flight was Graham Houston (13) with 37 points while Mike Pledger (17) edged out David Lowe (7) on countback with 36 points for second.  The winner of ‘B’ flight was Peter Harris (20) with 36 points from Peter Henderson (18) who beat Goort Gelten (18) on countback, both with 34 points.

Wednesday 26th saw us make another visit to the constantly improving Pattavia Century course.  The new clubhouse was almost complete but not yet ready for use.  Our compliments to the management here for making improvements every time we play here and they really have put together one of the best courses around.

Leading the way on scoring was Dave Hester (11) whose delicate putting stroke on these challenging greens allowed him to finish with 41 points.  Second place went to Brian Orr (17), beating Ian Dallis (8) on count back with 37 points.  We have now arranged for Brian to get a buggy with headlamps since he normally finishes in the dark.  Fourth place went to the evergreen Phonsie McGahan (7) with 36 points just ahead of Mark Williams (9) with 35.

A very welcome change in format was introduced on Friday 28th when we had 14 groups taking part in a 2-man scramble.  Our starting time was brought forward 30 minutes and for the first time in weeks we had no delays during the round.

After the round it was back to the Caddyshack for the delicious cottage pie provided by Koy and Keith.  Koy made 2 large pies, one for Keith and another for the 28 players.  The presentation followed the meal and victory went to the domestic staff of the Butler and the Gardener.

Jack and Ted took first place with a net 64.4 off of a 4.6 handicap while second place went to the Irish pairing of Brendan McGovern and Vincent Smythe with a score of 67 off a +2 handicap.

In third place we had Dave Gibson and Billy Shepley with a net 67.6 and fourth place went to Phonsie McGahan and Roger Rush with 68.2.

Nearest the pins were claimed by Vincent Smythe, Brendan McGovern, Glen Elsworth and Derek Wilkin.

The plan is now to have a 2 man scramble on the last Friday of every month.

Note:  The Caddyshack is located on Soi 17 off  3rd road or soi 8 off  Thepprasit Rd.  All golfers are welcome and reservations taken at 081 865 3104.
