BANGKOK, 8 July 2011  – Robert Bernard Fowler, or Robbie Fowler, the legendary striker of Liverpool FC in England, is heading to Thailand to play for Muangthong United FC in the Thai Premier League.

Muangthong United General Manager Ronnarit Suewaja said Mr. Fowler agreed to play with Muangthong United as a forward. He expressed his confidence that the Thai football circle would improve after a famous player like him agreed to take part in the team.

The manager continued that the 36-year-old striker, who scored 183 goals and won England 26 times during his eight years with Liverpool, is scheduled to arrive in Thailand on Friday and will have a physical examination after that.

Fowler will be the highest profile player in the Thai Premier League, which boasts several other famous foreign stars, such as Christian Kouakou of Ivory Coast, Ney Fabiano of Brazil, and Kazuto Kushida of Japan.
