Tennis lovers from across the Eastern Seaboard volleyed the ball across the net in Sattahip on December 31 to raise funds for the Father Ray Foundation.

The Thai Tennis Lovers event at the Melita Tennis Club is held every three months with a goal to raise money for clothing and essential items for foundation students.  Competitors are mixed-doubles teams comprised of family members.

Organizers Mark Kolenberg, Sukanya Saleepeang and court owner Rick Richardson were sponsored by FBT Sports, Marriott hotels, Seara International, AIA insurance, and the Fairtex Sports Club.

Previous tournaments attracted large numbers of Thai and foreign tennis players.  Winners receive a cup, but most players consider the activity a merit-making effort.  Competitors are divided into two divisions with eight matches spread over two days.

Kolenberg said the objective of the competition is to enhance family relationships and to establish Pattaya’s mixed-doubles play.  It is the first tournament aimed at family competitions.
