Erik goes home on a high note

Friday, 04 November 2011 From Issue Vol. XIX No. 44

IPGC golf from The Haven

Monday, October 24, Bangpra - Stableford

CSS 72

1st Erik Donnestad (4) 36pts

2nd Barry Wellings (5) 34pts

3rd Graham Johnson (6) 28pts

4th Shuichi Kodaka (17) 27pts

5th Mark Armstrong (21) 26pts

6th Trevor Schirmer (15) 26pts

There were no 2’s in the second division but Barry Welling squeezed one in to sweep the first division pool.

Before presenting the prizes The Doc welcomed new member Alistair Greer and also welcomed back Paul Taylor and Graham Johnson.

Erik Donnestad. Erik Donnestad.

There was also a farewell for Trevor Schirmer who is off to Oz for a short break from the rigours of Pattaya and who will be sorely missed, especially his assistance with the on course organization on the golf days.

Wednesday, October 26, Pattaya C.C. - Stableford

CSS 72

1st Erik Donnestad (4) 38pts

2nd Rod Howett (23) 31pts

3rd Markus Kamfjord (24) 23pts

The day’s competition was moved at the last moment after several negative reports regarding the condition of the planned course had been received and many of the usual suspects failed to show up at the allotted time, which meant that the field was a lot smaller than would have been expected.

There were no 2’s in either of the divisions

Friday, October 28, Greenwood - Stableford

CSS 71

1st Alan Pilkington (9) 39pts

2nd Erik Donnestad (4) 35pts

3rd Lyle Blaw (12) 35pts

4th Shuichi Kodaka (17) 34pts

5th Ole Stamnes (26) 33pts

6th Yukio Kikuchi (19) 33pts

Once again there were no 2’s in either division.

Back at The Haven there were welcome backs for Lyle Blaw and the Mahiyuya Tour from Japan consisting Yukio Kikuchi, Masami Tagaki and Hisahiko Makino led as usual by their intrepid guide Yasuo.  There was also a farewell for another year for Erik Donnestad, who was returning to Norway after his very successful golfing holiday in the Land of Smiles, with his pockets jingling.

We will certainly miss Erik’s gentle manner and charm and perhaps a few more hopefuls will be in with chance of getting onto the podium while he is away.
