Monday, April 7, Pattana – Stableford

It was a very hot and sultry day on Monday and the A course was closed so we started off on the B where everyone loves the first drive here.

We had two divisions today with the cut set at 5-15 and 16 plus.  The London taxi boy Mike Chatt recorded the best score of the day, winning division 1 with 36 points.  Ron Miller, playing off six, beat Lindsay Phillips 15/12 on the back six for second spot after they both came in with 35 points each, no one likes to see that.

Kari Aarnio topped division 2 standings with 34 points, beating Bob Poole 17/15 on the back nine and in third place was Mauri Friman with 30.

Near pins went to Tim Dale, Terry Madsen (2), Ron Miller, Bob Poole and Tony Stoltsen.

Tim Dale birdied C2 and Ron Miller C6 to split the ‘2’s pot in division 1 and Bob Poole also birdied C2 for the only ‘2’ in the second division.

Wednesday, April 9, The Emerald – Stableford

The numbers were dwindling as we headed towards Songkran but there were still two divisions out today with the same cut as Monday.  In his last week before departing back home to Khao Yai, Tim Hake won division 2 with 37 points, with Bob Poole in second place two points behind.

After taking a few lessons Chris Voller claimed top honours in division 1, winning with 35 points ahead of Terry Madsen in second who beat Ron Miller21/15 on the back nine after they both came in with 34 points each.

Tim Hake birdied the 13th for the only ‘2’ of the day to scoop the pot in division 2.

Friday, April 11, Eastern Star – Stableford

We were warned the previous week that the greens here were about to be cored but it didn’t really seem to affect the scores being returned today.  Bryan Rought with 38 points won division 2, a couple up on Sid Ottaway in second with 36 while Frank Kelly placed third place with 33.

In division 1 Wilf Latham with 13 points on the front nine and 22 on the back beat Chris Voller on count back for top spot after they both came in with 35 points apiece.  Ron Miller meanwhile took third with 34.

Near pins went to Bill Bertram, Wilf Latham, Chris Voller, Dean Worrell, Frank Kelly, Sid Ottaway and Howard Stanley (2).

There were no ‘2’s in either division so rollovers to Eastern Star on April 25.

We said Bon Voyage today to Jill and Howard Stanley and also to Ron Miller – see you back here in the Autumn.
