After a three week layoff, Brass Monkey FC got back to league action last weekend when they entertained league leaders the Sportsman, who were nine points above the Pattaya team but having played three games more.

Both teams started the match cautiously, resorting to shooting from long range, and Dipita came closest to putting Brass in the lead when his fierce shot flew narrowly over the Sportsman crossbar.  Slowly the match began to open up and Brass’s Prompong made some incisive runs down the left wing, causing some panic in the Sportsman defence, but chances were spurned in front of goal and Brass had to be content going into halftime with the scores level at 0-0.

After the break the game opened up more as Brass went to look for the opening goal, and it nearly came when the livewire Vorontzov shot just the wrong side of the post.  The same player came close again soon after with a diving header but once more it flew just wide of the goal.

With Brass piling on the pressure, Matveen saw his shot slam against the Sportsman goalpost and rebound to safety and it would be closest either team came to breaking the deadlock.  The Sportsman came back strongly in the final 10 minutes but they were unable to trouble the resolute Brass Monkey defence and the game ended in a 0-0 stalemate.
