Jomtien Golf with the IPGC

Monday, Nov. 10, Treasure Hill – Stableford

The weather seems to be improving in the region, has the rainy season finally ended here?  Thia was our first visit to Treasure Hill for a couple of months and we had seven groups out with the cut at 7-18 and 19 + in divisions 1 & 2.

We played off the yellows today at 6377 yards, which was enough for the majority of the field.  The course was in very good condition and still a tough test of golf, especially the second hole par-three over the water, and nobody was on the green from the tee in either division today.

Frank Boudewyns, playing off 20, topped division 2 with 33 points and Magne Gunnarson came in second after beating Robert Angell 17/14 on a back nine count back, both on 31 points.

In the first division Pete Sumner was on fire out of the blocks, scoring 21 on the front nine but then he faded badly over the inward half.  Chris Voller won the division with 35 points, three ahead of Terry Madsen who took second on a 17/15 count back over Barry Welling.

Near pins were shared between Gerry Cooke, Chris Voller, Jim Connelly, Ray Hucknall and Jeff Van Uffelen.

Irish boy Gerry Cooke and Frank Boudewyns both birdied the 6th to record the only ‘2’s of the day.

Wednesday, Nov. 12, Mt. Shadow – Stableford

Another 7 groups out today with an almost identical cut as Monday and the highest score of the day was returned in division 1 with Dennis Scougall coming in with 39 points.  Back from Oz, Chris Reed placed second some seven points behind Dennis and in third place was Colin Aspinall who beat John Walsh on count back after both retuned 29 points each.

Robert Angell was the winner in division 2 with 33 points, one up on Frank Boudewyns in second and in third place was Paul Hobson who edged a count back verdict over Ali and Jeff after they all came in with 28 points.

The course was still in good condition but the greens were probably the slowest we have played on here for some time.

Near went to Gerry Cooke, Dennis Scougal, Chris Voller, Robert Angell, Paul Hobson, Chris Reed and John Walsh.

Dennis Scougall birdied the 8th and Chris Voller the 5th to split the ‘2’s pot in division 1 while Paul Hobson and John Walsh did the same in the second flight.
