Early morning at BJ’s was its normal packed self as the staff flew around making sure that all the golfers got their breakfast, until it was into cars and away we went.  Well not quite, as one of our normally reliable players decided he could not make it and as usual changes had to be made.  Sadly I could not get hold of the players who had wanted to play but we still left with an overfull group.

The test for the day was to be the C & A nines as well as a wind that at times verged on gale force, which made it a really difficult day.

This is a course we all like and with the wind up the big slice right was in evidence time after time and no surprise to see other players on your fairway.  The course itself was not bad except for the greens which looked like Joseph’s coat, multicolored but all in green.  It affected the putting quite badly which was sad because this is otherwise a good course.

One of the frustrating things about having so many players is that as you have to wait for them all to come in, and time passes as it gets later and later.  Now while this may not seem that important, when you are playing at Crystal Bay it means you hit the traffic at 5 p.m. instead of 4 – and the traffic was insane.

Back at BJ’s we got underway as soon as possible with the presentation.  In the A Flight, 0 to 20, the winner was Landis Brooks with 40 points ahead of a 4-way count back on 37 that saw Takeshi Hakozaki in second, John Hackett take third, Brad Robins fourth and Brian Gabe just missing out.

In the B Flight, the winner was Torsten Bischoff with 41 points ahead of Daryl Evans in second with 39.  We then had a count back on 35 that saw George King in third and Gordon Clegg in fourth.
