Coco Sports Club at Ban Amphur near Pattaya hosted Thailand’s first 3 day lawn bowling competition on December 5, 6 and 7 to celebrate HM the King’s birthday.  Forty players in 10 teams fought out a new schedule on a real team basis.  The teams were drawn and then the players’ positions within the team were also drawn from a hat, so the players had no say in who their opponents would be.

It was a real team event with sidelines assistance, some great games and surprises, but after 83 matches and 553 ends of bowls the two league winners faced off in the final and what a cracker it was, close scoring on the way at 5-all, 6-all, 8-all and the winning team, after trailing 12-11 on the last end, made the two shots to win it 13-12.  It was a match fit to grace any world final.
