Travellers Rest Golf Group

Just when I was thinking that this was going to be the week all the winners had unpronounceable names after Terry Mishofski won on Monday, and Rungratree Puangsal won on Wednesday, along came Derek Thorogood on Friday to ruin it all.  I sometimes wonder what sports commentators really think when they look down the list of names of competitors and wonder how they are going to get through the programme without looking like a complete idiot.  So my sympathy this week goes out to the commentators of the England versus Sri Lanka cricket match trying to get their tongues around Dimuth Karunaratne or Lahiru Thirimanne.

Monday, June 9, Plutaluang – Stableford

The TRGG started off the week at Plutaluang, which is not the most straightforward name for a golf course and is generally known as the Navy Course.  It is however one of the most picturesque and you get the choice of four nine holes; North, South East and West.

On Monday the TRGG played the East and South courses and there were some very good winning scores.  So in naval terms the aforementioned Terry Mishofski ended up as Admiral for the day and he was followed home by Captain Ito Akitoshi (I know the names don’t get any easier) in second and Ship’s Mate Fergus Brennan came in third.

1st Terry Mishofski (17) 38pts

2nd Ito Akitoshi (9) 37pts

3rd Fergus Brennan (12) 37pts

Wednesday, June 11, Khao Kheow – Stableford

On Wednesday it was off to Khao Kheow (A & B courses) and suddenly we were back to high season numbers on the day, so two divisions were required.

That name that just trips off the tongue, Rungratree Puangsal, who stormed home with 40pts to win Division 1, with last week’s winners Jim Cleaver and Neil Bramley finishing in second and third respectively.

Monday’s winner Terry Mishofski did it again by finishing top of Division 2, while Charlie Cox and John Pinkowski took second and third.

Div.1 (0-12)

1st Rungratree Puangsal (11) 40pts

2nd Jim Cleaver (8) 38pts

3rd Neil Bramley (9) 36pts

Div.2 (13+)

1st Terry Mishofski (16) 37pts

2nd Charlie Cox (19) 36pts

3rd John Pinkowski (22) 33pts

Friday, June 13, Pattavia – Stableford

On Friday things returned to normal for the visit to Pattavia Century, formerly Century Chonburi, and it was Derek Thorogood who brought the winner’s name back to being manageable as well.  Neil Bramley again made it onto the winner’s podium in second and Geoff Pearse trooped in third.

1st Derek Thorogood (17) 36pts

2nd Neil Bramley (9) 35pts

3rd Geoff Pearse (25) 34pts
