The Honda LPGA Thailand 2013 ladies professional golf tournament will take place from February 21-24 at Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course.  The top 60 world’s money list woman golfers and 10 exemptions will compete in the 72-hole stroke play tournament with no cut to win prize money totaling 1.5 million USD or 4.5 million THB, with a special hole-in-one prize of an all New CR-V worth 1.5 million THB.

World number one player Yani Tseng from Taiwan will be returning to Pattaya and hoping to defend the title she won the last 2 years: “I’ve played 4 times at the Honda LPGA and the best memories must be this last year (2012).  There was a lot of excitement on the 18th hole; I had 90 yards to the pin and I know my ball is going to spin a lot so I kept it low and made a birdie to win,” she said.

“I am excited to go back to see all my friends and the fans again.  I love the golf course there and I just really want to go back and try to win again.  I enjoy being in Thailand and I think the fans out there and the food are great.  I really enjoy going to Thailand and I have so many good friends there,” added Tseng.

Saran Virutamavongsa, Chairman of the tournament organizing committee commented:  “The quality and the standard of this golf championship is comparable to any other world class tournament in the region.  We have attracted the world’s best golfers to play here on six previous occasions, which is a testament to the confidence from all the golf players.  But we believe that the Honda LPGA Thailand 2013 this year will be even more impressive, exciting and challenging than past years.”

Preceding the golf tournament will be a Charity Night featuring many of the players to raise funds for Bang Sai Arts and Crafts Centre of H.M Queen Sirikit of Thailand.  This supports local people to help them generate income through the preservation of Thai arts and handicrafts.
