IPGC Golf from The Tara Court Golf Society

Sunday, May 29, Green Valley – Stableford

A slower round of golf today as there were many Pros out on the course practicing for the Singha Open which was on all this week. We had a larger group out today so in the first time for a while we had enough for two flights.

Russell Gilroy.

Some of our golfers are really in form at the moment and the same names keep cropping up on the leaderboard. Allan Parker is one of the ones and today he excelled himself and won the A Flight with forty one points and also had a ‘2’ to make his day even better. Paul Pavloff is another who is really in form and today Paul came second with thirty eight points and also had a ‘2’. On a more modest thirty four points Joe McArdle came third and he kept Rod Torrie out of the prizes on the count back. As I said before, Russell Gilroy was in hospital for a minor operation a few weeks ago and I am not sure what medication they put him on but I certainly want some of it as since he came out his golf has improved dramatically and he has been in the prizes every day. Despite a reduction in his handicap today he really hit form and won the B Flight with another excellent forty one points, which will mean another reduction in the handicap for him. Michael Healy has also been playing very good golf for this trip and today he had his best round so far and came second with thirty eight points, a score which would normally win. John Dearden came third with thirty five after keeping his friend Geoff King out of the prizes on the count back.

A Flight
1st Allan Parker (11) 41pts
2nd Paul Pavloff (5) 38pts
3rd Joe McArdle (13) 34pts
B Flight
1st Russell Gilroy (17) 41pts
2nd Michael Healy (16) 38pts
3rd John Dearden (20) 35pts
2’s: Allan Parker, Paul Pavloff, Jens Gunnarsson.

Tuesday, May 31, Greenwood – Stableford

Joe McArdle & Don Everett.
Joe McArdle & Don Everett.

Millionaires’ golf today here in Greenwood but not at millionaires’ prices where we had a private golf course all to ourselves with not a soul in sight all day except ourselves. Once again the course was in brilliant condition, by far the best in the area and well worth the journey up to it.
We again played the A and B nines and again today we had some great scores. We were joined with our friends from the PFGS which meant we had a good sized group out and enough to make it two flights. Joe McArdle had his best score in a long time and today he came out the winner of the A Flight with forty one points and also recorded a ‘2’. Allan Parker, who is playing very steady at the moment, came second with forty points and Glen Campbell joined us for the first time today and made a very good start as he came third with thirty seven points and also got a ‘2’ into the bargain.

John Fenwick.

In the B Flight, Don Everett also had his best score in a long time and won with forty two points, which was also the best score of the day. Russell Gilroy is obviously still taking the tablets as he kept up his good form and came second with thirty eight and another man who has been playing great golf on this trip, Michael Healy, took third place with an even par thirty six points and had a ‘2’ on his card to make it an even better payday.

A Flight
1st Joe McArdle (13) 41pts
2nd Allan Parker (11) 40pts
3rd Glen Campbell (15) 37pts
B Flight
1st Don Everett (20) 42pts
2nd Russell Gilroy (17) 38pts
3rd Michael Healy (16) 36pts
2’s: Joe McArdle, Michael Healy and Glen Campbell.

Thursday, June 2, Burapha – Stableford

As we started off for Burapha today the weather didn’t look great and on the way out the rain started very heavy. In fact it was so bad that some of our group decided to turn back and go home, a foolish decision as it turned out as the rain didn’t last long and we still got off on our allotted tee time and had a very enjoyable round of golf.

We were playing the A and B nines and as we thought the fairways might be wet and playing long we decided to play off the blue tees instead of the usual white ones to make it more enjoyable for everyone.

John Fenwick was the man of the match today and was a very clear winner with forty points and also made a ‘2’ to make it even better. Robert Hanson has been playing very little golf lately but he made a very good return to it and came second with thirty seven points while Don Everett kept up his good form and came third with thirty six.

1st John Fenwick (19) 40pts
2nd Robert Hanson (11) 37pts
3rd Don Everett (20) 36pts
2’s: John Fenwick and Michael Healy.
