Khao Kheow A & B course was the choice on Tuesday, August 18 for the 144th PSC monthly golf tournament and although Pattaya is fairly deprived of golfers at the moment a good field of 82 players still made it to the 2-tee start, with the first groups getting away pretty much on time.

PSC Golf Chairman Maurice Roberts, together with Peter Blackburn, Dick Warberg, Marcus Earp, Gerd Riedler and Andre Van Dyk, arrived at the course early to set things up along with the Khao Kheow staff who were on hand and helpful.

On this occasion the A Flight played medal off the yellow tees, B & C Flights played stableford off the yellow tees, D Flight played stableford off the white tees and Ladies/Seniors played stableford off the red & silver tees.

The Low Gross winner on the day was Bob Watson (h/cap 2) who carded a fine round of 73 gross.  A Flight, playing medal, was won by Tom Marshall (10) who had a net 67 while B Flight honours were taken by John Pierrel (13) with 37 points.

In the C Flight, Ian Wilson (18) carded a level-par 36 points to carry the day and Colin Simpson’s 38 points were enough to see him top the D Flight standings.

In the Ladies/Seniors Flight it was once again Barry Oats (22) who was declared the winner having returned a fine score of 41 points.

The presentation and prize giving was once again held at Dicey Reilly’s on Pattaya Second Road and the food was terrific with plenty of it.

Peter Blackburn welcomed all and introduced Golf Chairman Maurice Roberts who expressed his appreciation to the day’s players and those who assisted him at the course and to the PSC office staff for the pre-tournament work.  He also reminded all the golfers to pay attention to detail before turning in their scorecards, making sure they are signed by Player & Marker and ensuring that the scorecard contains the scores of both Player & Marker.  In addition to that he asked that in future players should present themselves to their allocated first tee no less than 10 minutes prior to their start time.

Peter then announced the winners and Maurice, Dick & Andre presented the prizes followed by the Lucky Draw and 50/50 Draw, the latter being won by Pu Thompson.

Finally thanks were given to Tom Herrington who took the all winners’ photos.
