Sunday, March 19, Green Valley – Stableford

A Flight

1st Rod Torrie (11) 36pts

2nd Nick Caulfield (6) 36pts

3rd Pal Anderssen (13) 35pts

B Flight

1st Don Everett (19) 30pts

2nd Joe Peters (20) 29pts

3rd Frank McGowan (20) 29pts

It started off very nice here today at Green Valley and was not too hot, especially for the first nine holes although it did get a bit hotter after that.  Just five groups out today but still enough for two flights, with the cut coming at eighteen-handicap.

The best scoring was in the A flight where Rod Torrie was the winner on count back with thirty six points.  Nick Caulfield also had thirty six but lost out to Rod on the back-nine.  Pal Anderssen, who is on his second trip here this year, took third place with thirty five points.

In the B flight the scoring wasn’t as good, with Don Everett winning on thirty points and we then had three players on twenty nine with Terry Mangan losing out on the count back.  Joe Peters won it and got second place ahead of Frank McGowan.

We had no ‘2’s today.

Tuesday, March 21, Treasure Hill – Stableford

1st Craig Hitchens (15) 36pts

2nd Joe McArdle (15) 34pts

3rd Declan Kelly (11) 33pts

We were here at Treasure Hill with our friends from the PFGS today and although the group was small we had one very welcome friend back playing with us.  That was Ted Morris who had an unfortunate accident here before Xmas when his foot went in to a large hole which was covered by long grass and he broke his ankle.  Thankfully he has made a full recovery and today actually played good golf considering he hadn’t played for so long and managed to take a share of the ‘2’s pot.

We had one player who managed to beat the course today and that was Craig Hitchens who won with thirty six points, a good score here.  Joe McArdle had been playing well but let it slip on the last two holes to come second with thirty four points and Declan Kelly came third with thirty three.

Despite having a small group we still had two ‘2’s with Frank McGowan sharing the pot with Ted.
