Travellers Rest Golf Group
While the cats away the mice will play and boy did some of our golfers made hay last week, knowing the great handicap adjuster is away in foreign climes and would not be cutting their handicap. I think you might hear some pips squeaking soon when things return to normal.
There was no golf on Monday as it was a Thai holiday and all the bars were dry for the day.

Tuesday, July 23, Greenwood – Stableford
1st Richard Talbot (19) 37pts
2nd Jim McNeill (15) 37pts
3rd Gary Bennett (17) 36pts
The TRGG headed off to Greenwood (C and A courses) on Tuesday and a very close competition ensued with all the leaders closely bunched. Richard Talbot carried on where he left off the week before by winning the competition on count back from Jim McNeill, both finishing on 37 points. Gary Bennett, the previous week’s hole in one star, finished third on 36.
Thursday, July 25, Phoenix – Stableford
1st Richard Talbot (19) 40pts
2nd Mod Chaviraksa (12) 39pts
3rd Jim Cleaver (15) 35pts
On Thursday at Phoenix (Mountain and Lakes) Richard Talbot again ran up 40pts for the second week in succession which proved too good for all the other competitors, although Mod Chaviraksa ran him close off the ladies tees and finished on 39pts. Our new father Jim Cleaver escaped from changing nappies for the day and finished third on a respectable 35pts.
Friday, July 26, Plutaluang – Stableford
1st Gary Bennett (17) 38pts
2nd Daryl Ottoway (8) 35pts
3rd Magnus Alvarsson (13) 34pts
The TRGG added in a day’s golf at Plutaluang (North and West courses) on Friday because Monday’s golf had been ruled out. Gary Bennett had a good day and amassed 38pts to win the competition quite easily in the end.
