Friday, May 5, Eastern Star – Stableford

Torrential rain here in Jomtien started around 5.00am and led to a few cancellations before we even set off from Frasers.  There had been no overnight rain at Eastern Star however and we were very lucky with the weather as dark clouds milled all around but just a few spots of rain made it onto the course.

We had a small group out today with the cut at 8-13 and 17+ and Bill Bertram bounced back to win division 1 with an even par 36 points.  Pete Sumner came second behind Bill on 32 points.

Colin James was the winner in division 2 with 35 points and Tony Thorne was second with 32.

Near pin awards went to (Div 1) Bill Bertram, Lindsay Phillips, Pete Sumner and Jerry Sweetnam, and (Div 2) Rod Howett, Colin James and Gil Phillips.

Pete Sumner birdied the 6th for the only ‘2’ of the day.
