Near pins went to (Div 1) Pete Sumner (2) and Paul Young, and (Div 2) Alan Bissell, Paul Butler and William Chang.

Neil Gamble birdied the 13th and Paul Young the 4th to split the ‘2’s pot in division 1 while in division 2 Rod Howett had a ‘2’ on the 7th to become a happy chappy.

The course today was in good condition with some very slick greens and we were very lucky with the weather, with the last three groups coming into light rain on the final two holes.

Wednesday, May 24, Burapha – Stableford

Our first game of the year here due to the late tee off times we were allocated in the high season which we don’t use.  It was a very pleasant return trip here and playing the A and B nines the course was enjoyed by all of our players today.

Alan Bissell, with a handicap of 19 for the last time, played a remarkable round to win division 2 with 42 points.  Eight points behind was Paul Butler in second place, beating Colin James on a 19/17 back nine-count back.

Still in form Pete Sumner won division 1 again, but this time only with 38 points.  Jerry Sweetnam was second after beating Neil Gamble on a 19/16 back-nine count back, both coming in with 37 points each.

Near pins were claimed by (Div 1) Neil Gamble, John Hughes and Jerry Sweetnam, and (Div 2) Leo Adam and Alan Bissell (2).

There were no ‘2’s today in division 1 but Leo Adam and Alan Bissell split the pot in division 2.

Friday, May 26, Eastern Star – Stableford

Heavy rain yet again overnight here in Jomtien and there were a few cancellations in the morning but as we arrived at the course there was just a slight drizzle and all five groups teed off 15 minutes ahead of schedule.

Despite all the rain, ‘pick, clean and place’ was not required and Colin Aspinall was a clear winner in not division 2 with 37 points, a full seven clear of Frank Kelly in second.  Joe Peters trailed in some further way behind in third with 25 points.

Brian Green was the winner in division 1 with 32 points, with Midge beating John Hughes 17/15 on count back for second after they both came in with 31 points.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Steve Godfrey and Michael Healey, and (Div 2) Colin Aspinall (2) and Ian Plummer.

Michael Healey and John Hughes both birdied the 17th to share the ‘2’s pot in division 1 while in division 2 there was another rollover.
