Local speedster Sandy Stuvik started off the European racing season with testing at Spain’s new Alcarras Circuit just outside the city of Lleida, during 21-23 February.  The 3 day test program was part of the season build up with the Interwetten Junior Racing team to prepare the young Thai driver for this season’s very challenging European Formula Renault racing series.

The 16 year old Stuvik has been working hard on his physical and mental preparation over the winter break and is clearly eager for a good championship challenge in 2012.  Very fit and 5 kg lighter than last season the Thai driver immediately posted fast times at Alcarras and remained the fastest driver there for all 3 test days, eventually claiming an unofficial fastest Formula Renault lap of the circuit – with a time of 1:28:876.

Sandy plans to join up again with the successful Interwetten Junior Race Team at a later date and is also teaming up with former F1 test driver and current LMP1 racer, Neel Jani, who will support Sandy as a personal driving coach.

The Alcarras testing session was the first time everything came together and the results of this collaboration were immediately evident in the lap times set by the young Thai driver.

The 2012 season again will see the strong support and sponsorship from Sandy’s long term backers The Pizza Company, as well as Singha Corporation and Dacon Inspection Services.

The next round of tests will be at the Oschersleben circuit in Germany, then Slovakiaring and Red Bull Ring in fast succession before the season starts at Hockenheim on 20th of April.  Sandy has ambitions of a strong race challenge this season and continues to work hard to reach these goals.
