PSC Golf from The Growling Swan

Monday, Oct. 15, Pattavia – Stableford

Seven golfers chose to head out to play Pattana, one of the better courses that Pattaya has to offer. With plenty of overnight rain we were surprised that carts were still allowed on the course but we still played ‘lift, clean & place’ as there were areas that were somewhat water-logged.

The weather was definitely on our side, conditions to play were excellent and just to show how lucky we were the heavens opened as we got on the bus to head home.

We played from the yellow tees, and played B and C nines in that order. Keith Buchanan, returning from his 5 day golfing adventure, showed the way and took the day’s honours with 34 points. With our numbers down we only had one winner on the podium along with the 4 near pins, which went to Keith Buchanan (2), Alex Field and Colin Phillips.

Thursday, Oct. 18, Khao Kheow – Stableford

1st Denis Steele (14) 41pts

2nd Alex Field (17) 40pts

3rd Tom Morris (12) 37pts

Near Pins: Bill Steinmann (2), Mashi Kaneta (2).

Long Putt: Sal Brizzi, Alex Field.

Fifteen golfers made the trip to Khao Kheow today where the green fee of Bt.800 makes it hard to resist. Playing from the yellow tees we attacked the B & C course which was in good shape despite the recent rain.

‘Buffalo’ Bill Steinmann completed the first 9 holes with a very good score of 20 points, but we are led to believe he was then abducted by a band of raiders. Bill managed to escape his captors but it obviously affected his game as he only managed 7 more points on the inward nine holes. It sounds like a tall story but what else could explain his dramatic drop in form.

Denis Steele set the crowd alight today, returning to form with a massive and one would say excellent 41 points. Coming in second, and not very far behind was Alex Field, also returning to the top ranks. Completing the podium in third was Tom Morris who bumped out Mashi via the countback system.
