This was a day which will go down as one where we thankfully missed the rain and got in just before the downpours. Judging by the talk, the greens was terrible (having been cored and sanded the previous week), but the scores suggested otherwise.
With only 21 players, nearly half the field played better than handicap and in joint third place were Andy Makara and Pierre Zbinden with fantastic net 67s. In second place, David Atkinson played one of his best rounds with an unbelievable net 65. Yet even that wasn’t good enough to win, and Joihn Stafford walked away with both the low gross, first place overall and the “yellow jersey” for a spot in September’s final with an outstanding net 62.
There were six ‘2’s recorded so not much of a payout for those involved.
