PSC golf from The Golf Club

Monday, June 16, Green Valley (white tees) – Stableford

1st Thierry Danzas (23) 43pts

2nd Nate Welchert (14) 39pts

3rd Henry O’Brien (20) 36pts

It was another trip out to Green Valley and we were bracing ourselves for a hot and muggy round of golf.  The course was once again in great condition, but the weather was stifling and it was a lot of work out there today.  We had a good low season turnout of 20 golfers and everyone showed up on time.

Thierry Danzas.Thierry Danzas.

Our mon amis Thierry Danzas was in fine form today and beat the weather to claim top spot on the podium.  With fellow Frenchman Serge Straeten winning here last week, mon dieu, the ‘Gaul’ of them to take it 2 weeks in a row!  Thierry is used to the heat of the kitchen so it must have benefitted him today.  You know what they say, if you can’t stand the heat, stay off the golf course.

The recently retired Nate Welchert continues his steady form with another round of shooting his handicap or better, and our old mate Henry O’Brien shot to his handicap for sole third place.

Wednesday, June 18, Kabinburi (white tees) – Stableford

1st Brad Sproxton (15) 42pts

2nd John McHugh (13) 38pts

3rd Nate Welchert  (14) 36pts

Thursday, June 19, Kabinburi (white tees) – Stableford

1st Brad Sproxton (15) 41pts

2nd John McHugh (13) 39pts

3rd Phil Smedley (9) 36pts

Sproxtonburi is the new name for our golfing destination as Brad completely dominated this June road trip!  TGC partner John McHugh is back in town and tried as best he could to give Sproxton a run for his money but to no avail.

The blood/alcohol level was another contest altogether but once again, Brad got the balance just right with the Bradcardi’s flowing at just the right pace.  Nate Welchert had his second podium placing of the week and came good on round one to grab third place.

After golf and a short rest, it was off to meet at poolside for the wine & cheese party we all look forward to.  After a few litres of the red and some beautiful selections of the fromage, we were all feeling little, if any, pain from the tough old slog a few hours before.  We once again stayed at the fantastic Kantary Hotel which was also enjoyed by a record 9 ladies who joined the golfers for this fun event.  We always welcome wives and girlfriends for our golfing getaways.

Capt. Phil Smedley did extremely well and posted a 36 for day 2 on a track with very tough conditions.  Let’s also give Phil our belated birthday wishes as yet another year has passed by already!

We had a bit of rain on both days, so the grounds-keeping crew had to interrupt cutting the fairways halfway through, which made for a tough old day at the office.  The rough was also wet and wild and it was one of the more challenging rounds we had faced this year.  Your only chance of scoring was to keep the ball in the fairway and then on to those huge greens that Kabinburi is known for.

Once again, great shooting to Brad and Johnny, ya done good boys!
