PSC golf from The Golf Club Sports Bar

Monday, Sept. 26, Green Valley – Stableford

1st John Pierrel (13) 36pts

2nd Grant Cadell (16) 36pts

3rd Henry O’Brien (18) 34pts

Our travelling golfer, John Pierrel has been playing very consistent golf of late, mainly because he plays a lot of golf.  Funny how that works!  Four or five rounds a week seem to do the trick.  Last week at our Monday venue of Green Valley he was second, this week he was first, and so goes the moral – if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.

It was a close race to the finish line between John and Grant Cadell and only decided on count back in the end.  You must hang in there and play those last few holes well to ensure victory if a count back should be required.

A quick reminder, Richard is back in health and teaching at the range so go see him or contact us for lessons to tune up your game.

Familiar faces Martin and son Brad Todd brought their mate Wayne Chatfield to represent Australia for the comp and newbie Peter Thomas from Blighty joined us on his first trip to Pattaya.  Henry O’Brien, who has also been playing quite well lately, turned in his card for a respectable 34 points for third.

Wednesday, Sept. 28, Bangpra – Stableford

1st Brad Sproxton (12) 40pts

2nd Eddie Bielby (15) 33pts

3rd Steve Ellison (17) 33pts

The easy swingin’ Canadian from Red Deer, Alberta (and our former cat wrangler) Brad Sproxton was the only guy out there  today who made the game look simple by carding 40 points for a  big win at Bangpra.  I guess he was just so happy to get all of his hockey gear back!

The charming gentleman golfer Eddie Bielby gave it his all and took honours for second with a 33 as his 19 on the back 9 was a shot better than Steve Ellison who had 18 points.

Anybody seen the big monitor lizards lately?  The course was in great shape and we will be back.  P.S. to Brad…Happy 48th mate!

Friday, Sept. 23, Mountain Shadow – Medal

1st Paul Smith (1) net 72 net

2nd Bob Newell (7) net 72 net

3rd Ian Halfpenny (12) net 73

Shattered – that’s the only word to describe Bob Newell as he walked off the 18th on Friday.  He had a great round going until he met the 14th hole par 5 that ate him alive.  A double bogey would have given him the title, but no, Bob managed a (gulp) 9 –not a misprint- NINE on the #2 handicapped hole to ruin the card.

Paul Smith is undisputedly one of the best golfers in Pattaya.  Any pro would be happy to card a 35 on the back nine at Mountain Shadow, especially on those greens.  So once again our congratulations go to 2-time Monthly Medal Winner Paul Smith for a great display of how the game can be played, shooting a fine 73 gross.

Ian Halfpenny had to witness Bob’s misfortune and still came good with a great 73 net for third place.

Thanks to all who attended and see you next month for a fancy dress costume party round for our next Monthly Medal Halloween at Green Valley.  Paul’s second star and 2 Antigua shirts are now in his closet.

Goodbye to Kalani Makaneole and welcome back to Phil Smedley, Warren Holland.
