SEA Games windsurfing medalists honored

Pattaya mayor Itthiphol Kunplome handed out cash awards to Thailand’s two medalists in windsurfing competitions at the recently ended Southeast Asia Games.

The mayor, who is honorary president of the Windsurfing Association of Thailand, joined the group’s vice president, Vice Adm. Sarayuth Daengted, at the windsurfers congratulations party held at the Surf Kitchen in Jomtien Beach, July 2.

Thailand won the overall competition in Singapore, taking home 95 gold, 83 silver and 69 bronze medals and leading the competition from the first day on.

Windsurfer Nattapong Phonopapat won a gold medal in the RSX male race and compatriot Siriporn Kaewduang-ngam added to her collection of medals by taking home a silver in the RSX female race.

Itthiphol presented both with cash awards for their accomplishments, with coach Aran Hormraruean also getting rewarded.

Additional prizes and recognitions were handed out to Eak Boonsawat for entering the “Gold Fleet” and being ranked 25th in the world, and Pattaradanai Jeenin, who was listed 22nd in the “Silver Fleet” group.

The association also honored coach Prapart Sungnguan and manager Pattana Boonsawat, the latter also being secretary of the association.
