Colin’s Bar Golf Society

Sunday, Oct. 4, Silky Oak – Stableford

It’s a new beginning for Colin’s Bar Golf Society (formally Ferdinand Golf Society), with a new regular tee-time on a Sunday of 9.05 a.m. at Silky Oak Golf Course.  For golfers who take a cart this is 400 baht cheaper than Green Valley, or if you normally walk it is only 200 baht more and a lot easier on the legs.

We had three 4-balls out today with newcomers Rusty Barfield, Christen Davies, Nat Rukkid, John Dearden, Ally Robertson, Geoff King, Swiss John, Mike Seely and Morgan Melander all taking part.  A lot of the players were there to do a reconnaissance of the course prior to the inter-society scramble to take place later in the week.

Christen Davies led in the first group with 37 points, followed by Mogens (36pts), Phill (35) and  Nat (not used to such an early start) trailing in with 26.  The next group had Mike with 35pts, Swiss John (34), Geoff (32) and Ally 30.

Then came the last group headed by Rusty (name changed to stainless) who had 4 birdies on the front, another on the back and 13 pars (not a blemish on his card) for 47 points.  9 shots back in second came the Donkey with 38, just beating Nick Shaw (35) and JTB (29).  None of Rusty’s playing partners could believe how well he played.  It was a a real pleasure to watch – especially as we had no side bets!
