We were booked into play Emerald GC, today being The Mother’s Day gazetted holiday. Emerald did us a deal for the day and as they say, “The rest is history.”

Nineteen golfers headed out while the threat of rain remained in the background, all were looking forward to having a go at this great course which was in very good nick.

Frank Riley still has it and today his return of 41 points was enough to take top spot. Coming in second was John Coetzee who was beaten by the shortest of margins while third past the post was Denis Steele, with Steve Younger filling the final spot on the podium.

Thursday, August 16, Crystal Bay – Stableford

1st Frank Riley 25) 38pts

2nd Jack Penny Coetzee 18) 37pts

3rd Rocky Lawson 20) 37pts

Playing one of our favorite courses today we had a 10 am tee time and eighteen golfers lined up for the challenge. As per usual the course was in great shape and we played the B & A nines in that order.

Like a fine bottle of fine wine Frank Riley is getting better with age and again he led the pack home with 38 points. Second place went to a countback on 37 points that saw Rocky Lawson just lose out to newcomer Jack Penny.
