Regents International hosts first Friendly Football Cup

Regents International School Pattaya celebrated the grand opening of its new sporting facilities on May 28 and the school could think of no better way to enjoy the new astro-turf pitch than by hosting a friendly football tournament involving local Thai teams.

Regents school Principal, Mr Blaikie, and school founder Dr Virachai took great pride in officially opening the sports hall, astro-turf pitch and new teaching pool for younger students.

With 12 teams competing in the U10 and U12 football categories the standard of play was very high. Young athletes played with skill, team work and enthusiasm where passion for the glorious game shone through. The goal celebrations and support from travelling parents and coaches could be heard across the school. The teams benefited by taking a well-earned break and rest from the heat in the new air-conditioned sports hall.

The football games resumed and the energy was high and intensive as medal positions would be decided. The U10 tournament resulted in Regents International School winning the bronze medals in third position and Assumption College Rayong taking the silver medals, but the winners of the gold medals and trophy were the team from Sriracha Arena Academy.

The U12 competition was very close and Assumption College Rayong won the bronze medals while Regents International School collected the silvers, they were beaten to first place however by the Chonburi Football Academy who were crowned champions.
All teams were presented with participation certificates and t-shirts to remind them of this grand occasion within the Regents School history.
