Monday, Oct. 31, Bangpra – Stableford

This was our last game here until the low season kicks in next year due to the tee time settings during the high season which are not suitable to us.

After finishing second in the Giant Panda tour in Chiang Mai and being cut two shots recently, Bob Poole shot an amazing 41 points today to win division 1.  Jerry Sweetnam was some way back in second, beating Paul Fox on an 18/11 back-nine count back after the both came in with 34 points.

With the cut at 18+ in division 2, William Chang was the day’s winner with 33 points.  Magne Gunnarson, now playing off silver tees, rolled in second with 32 points and in third place Gerry Cooke beat Tom Novak 14/12 on the back-nine after they both came in with 28 points each.

Near pins went to Paul Fox, Don Mumford, Bob Poole and Pete Sumner.  There were no ‘2’s in either division today.

Wednesday, Nov. 2, Mt. Shadow – Stableford

The equal cut today in the two divisions was 8-17.6 and 18.4 plus and it was a tough test of golf out there playing off the blue tees.

Thirty five points was the best score returned, with Jerry Sweetnam posting that to win division 1 while banjo boy Richard Bannister beat Pete Sumner to second spot on a 19/18 back-nine count back after they both returned scores of 32.

Magne Gunnarson, still in form, topped division 2 with 34 points, Greg Braymer was second two points behind and Johnny Walsh, in his first game with us since his return, beat Jim Connelly, John Hughes and Larry Gibb on a 20/17/17/16 count back after they all posted 30 points in total.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Dennis Scougall, Pete Sumner and Jerry Sweetnam (2), and (Div 2) Greg Braymer, Magne Gunnarson (2) and Curtis Hessler.

Richard Bannister birdied the 15th and Per Forsberg the 5th to split the ‘2’s pot in division 1 and Johnny Walsh was a happy chappie after recording the only ‘2’ in division 2 on the 15th.

Friday, Nov. 4, Eastern Star – Stableford

The social workers entrepreneur is back with us and 20 points on the back nine saw Dennis Scougall win division 1 with 36 points overall.  Dave Edwards came in second, beating Brian Green and Bill Bertram on an 18/18/ 17 back-nine count back.

After a few weeks in the doldrums Rod Howett bounced back today, winning division 2 with 33 points.  Tony Thorne was second one point behind Rod and Darryl Blair beat Frank Kelly on a 16/15 count back for third after they both came in with 31 points.

Near pins were claimed by (Div 1) Dave Edwards, Arthur Hancock and Pete Sumner, and (Div 2) Tony Thorne and Johnny Walsh.

Arthur Hancock birdied the 17th and Wilf Latham the 3rd in division 1 and with a rollover in division two there was only one ‘2’, by Jim Connelly on the 3rd.
