Pimpimon takes out indoor bowls tourney

Twelve of the finest Thai Ladies Lawn Bowlers competed on Sunday 29th April in the inaugural Ladies Singles Indoor Lawn Bowls Tournament at the recently opened Coco Club Resort, with the support of former Sports Minister Sontaya Kunplome and the Chonburi Sports Association.

The Coco Club Resort, which is situated in a relaxed country area in Baan Amphur – Huay Yai, approximately 20km south of Pattaya, is the only indoor lawn bowls facility in Thailand and is Thai family run.

Sunday’s players included the 2011 and 2012 Ladies Outdoor Bowls Champions with a few newcomers and after the round robin leagues it came down to the semi finals where Pimpimon just outplayed Thong (2012) with a score of 8–7 and then Thanom showed her experience to overcome Coco’s own Sue 10-3.

The final battle went under way with Pimpimon just edging Thanom 9-5 on the last end of a 9 end final to win her first trophy and the 10,000 Baht first prize.

Coco Club Resort has 2 bars, a restaurant for snacks or fine dining dinner with chef and keen bowler Sue presenting her unique style of food at affordable prices.  The resort comprises of a private suite and meeting room, 8 chalets, swimming pool and four “indoor” bowls rinks where a mixed doubles league is played on Tuesdays, an invitation league on Wednesday, a triples league on Friday and also a monthly competition.
