Jomtien Golf with the IPGC

Monday, June 15, Phoenix – Stableford

It was the Mountain and Ocean nines again as the Lakes course is totally under renovation, we could not believe the amount of work going on with new greens and fairways on all holes being constructed.

There were two divisions out as always at this time of the year and the cut was set at 8-17 and 19+ in division 2.  It was a pleasant day here with the temperature not to overpowering as of late and the course was in good condition.

Colin Phillips.

Just back from down under, Colin Phillips with 37 points won division 2, four ahead of Steve Godfrey in second and Markuu Tynell placed third with 30.

Chris Voller scored 14 on the front nine and 22 on the back to win division 1 with a level par 36 points and Terry Madsen took second after beating Paul Hartley 19/14 on the back nine, both coming in with 33 points each.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Uli Bangerter, Dave Horne, Terry Madsen and Chris Voller, and (Div 2) Paul Hartley and Markuu Tynell (2).

Uli Bangerter birdied Mountain 4 and Chris Voller Ocean 5 to split the ‘2’s pot in division 1 while a rollover ensued in division 2.

Wednesday, June 17, Pattavia – Stableford

An almost identical cut in the two divisions as of Monday and playing off a 22 handicap, Steve Godfrey topped division 2 with 40 points while Sasha Culakovski trailed in second with 36.

Chris Voller once again won the premier flight, this time with 38 points, and the Air Bus A380 pilot Tony Bless came second some way back on 29.

Near pins were claimed by (Div 1) Jerry Sweetnam and Chris Voller, and (Div 2) Steve Godfrey

There were no ‘2’s today in either division so rollovers to Pattaya C.C. on Monday.

Friday, June 19, Eastern Star – Stableford

What a difference a week makes to the condition of a course, with rain almost every day here the fairways are a lot greener and the ground, where it used to be very hard and burnt, is almost back to normal.  There were a couple of spongy patches and a few worm casts on the course but there was no ‘pick, clean and place’ ruling coming in to play today.

The cut was set at 8-17 in division 1 and Iain Walsh won it with just 33 points, ahead of Bill Bertram in second on 32 and Tony Thorne third with 31.

Steve Godfrey’s 32 points was the best score in the second division, with the golf organizer taking second place one point behind and Joe Kubon third on 29.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Arthur Hancock and Chris Voller, and (Div 2) Joe Kubon, Tony Thorne and Iain Walsh.

There were no ‘2’s in division 1 but with two rollovers in division 2 Tony Thorne birdied the 6th to scoop the pot.
