Petanque team tourney draws international; field

An international team petanque competition was held on March 1 at the Thai-French Petanque Club on Pattaya Third Road.  The competition was open for all club members as well as private individuals and residents competing as teams.

Categories included teams for men and women, with a registration fee at 300 baht.  Prize money included 5,000, 3,000 and 1,000 baht (1st, 2nd, 3rd).  There was also a division for youths and students from Pattaya and the surrounding areas whereas the registration fees were 200 baht and prize money set at 1,000, 500 and 400 baht respectively.

The objective of the event was to promote sports and build friendship and harmony between Thai and foreigners who love petanque and for those who are interested to learn the sport.

Over 20 teams took part in the competition and they battled with the steel balls until the top duo could be found.  The winners were Team Tao Kae Ouan 1 who took home the 5,000 baht top prize.  They were followed up the podium steps by Team Tao Kae Ouan 5 in second and Team Bangbooth in third.
