Sunday, April 23, St. Andrews – Stableford

1st Paul Pavloff (6) 37pts

2nd Russell Gilroy (19) 33pts

3rd Peter Wallace (23) 32pts

4th Bob St Aubin (15) 31pts

There was a bit of confusion here today and we were moved over to St Andrews even though it looked like Green Valley was still open.  Some of our friends were not very happy or impressed with the condition of the course, especially the greens.  However, on what was a very hot day we still got around in good time.

Paul Pavloff has been off golf for a while with eye problems but as he was due to go home the next day he decided to give it a try and certainly his eyes were ok as he came out a very clear winner with thirty seven points.  To make it even better for Paul’s last day he also had the only ‘2’.

Russell Gilroy got the second place four points adrift, Peter Wallace came third a further point back and Bob St. Aubin got the fourth and last podium place with thirty one.

Tuesday, April 25, Mt. Shadow – Stableford

1st Craig Hitchens (15) 36pts

2nd Steven Cliff (25) 33pts

3rd Joe Peters (21) 32pts

As usual on Tuesday we were joined by our friends from the PFGS and reports were that conditions at Mountain Shadow were not too bad and there was a nice breeze to make it comfortable for playing.

It was a very quiet course so we got off early and completed the round in good time.  We only had a small group out and just one player managed to play to his handicap, this being Craig Hitchens who was the winner with thirty six points.

Steven Cliff was playing his first ever game with us and he got off to a good start by coming second with thirty three points while Joe Peters made his usual trip to the podium and came third with thirty two.  Joe also recorded the only ‘2’ of the day.

Thursday, April 27, Burapha – Stableford

1st Pat Carty (28) 40pts

2nd Lyle Blaw (12) 39pts

3rd Steven Cliff (25) 35pts

4th Ken Hole (19) 34pts

5th Joe Peters (21) 33pts

We were back for what is now our weekly Thursday game here at Burapha and again today we played the A and B nines.  Although we had a good group out we all decided to play off the white tees as after all the rain over the past few days it was going to be soft and playing long.

We got round the front nine ok but after the tenth hole the rain started and we had to wait for an hour for it to stop.  We then resumed play but again after a few holes it started again and some of our group gave up.  However, for the ones who finished it wasn’t too bad and we still got a few very good scores, even with the wet fairways and greens.

Pat Carthy certainly wasn’t stopping, rain or no rain, as he was going very well and he kept it together to come out on top with an excellent forty points.  Lyle Blaw probably thought he had done enough with thirty nine points but it wasn’t good enough and he had to settle for second but he also had a ‘2’ to help to soften the blow.  Steven Cliff made his second trip to the podium in his second game with us on thirty five points, Ken Hole got fourth place a further point back and Joe Peters got the fifth and last place with thirty three.

John Fenwick recorded a birdie ‘2’ to share the pot with Lyle Blaw.
