PSC Golf from The Golf Club

Monday, March 14, Green Valley (white tees) – Stableford

1st Peter Thomas (17) 40pts

2nd Gary Emmett (17) 37pts

T3rd Peter LeNoury (13) 35pts

T3rd Kevin Hamilton (17) 35pts

If you were a 17 handicapper, there was a good chance you just might end up on the podium for today’s comp!  That’s the quirky thing about golf, sometimes things happen all at the same time with the same numbers.  Go figure.

Phil, Kenny, John & Doc.

Course condition was beautiful out there today, albeit unseasonably hot.  The humidity was also creeping up but hopefully not an indicator of things to come for this summer.

Scoring today was pretty good, and also it is good to see Mr. LeNoury get some of his game back.  Peter shared the small step with Kevin Hamilton as a 35 on the card bought them third place.  Last week Kevin had a blistering 39, so it is obvious he enjoys this course!

Martin Zimmerman.

Gary Emmett is back once again visiting us from downundah.  He got his land legs pretty quick and a 38 on his card was good for second place.  Winner winner chicken dinner was the call Phil made to Peter Thomas for another superb round in the forties.  It was an even 40 pointer for Peter today and he continues his streak of good golf.  Well played mate!

Tuesday, March 15, Parichat Links (white tees) – Stableford

1st Gary Smedley (19) 34pts

2nd Gary Emmett (17) 33pts

3rd Kenny Aihara (5) 29pts

There are some golf courses around Pattaya that usually court controversy, and Parichat Links is certainly on that list.  Most blokes like it as the price is right, it’s close to town and generally in good nick.  They have some strange holes on the menu here and the par-6 with a postage stamp green surely must be right up there.  It’s on our playlist and we look forward to seeing how this project grows and develops over the next few years.

You could hear the sound of Kenny’s jaw hitting the floor as a mere 29 points brought Mr. Aihara up to the podium for third spot honours.  It was a big surprise, but this is a tough little course.  After finishing second on Monday, the bridesmaid’s spot went once again to Gary Emmett.

If you can’t get on the podium yourself, fly your brother over!  Yes, there are 2 Smedley’s in town now and it is Gary keeping the name alive.  No relation to the soup dynasty, but oh don’they wish they were.  Gary Smedley won at Paricht today, which is no easy task.

Thursday, March 17, Mt. Shadow (blue tees) – Stableford

1st Martin Zimmerman (15) 31pts

T2nd Kenny Aihara (5) 29pts

T2nd Phil Smedley (13) 29pts

T2nd John Emmerson (14) 29pts

Just when you thought it was safe, out come the blue tees.  It didn’t seem all that long as dry fairways were giving us all a good 30 yards more roll, but the scores were some of the lowest of the year.

We had a good 5 groups of Pattaya’s finest out with us today.  The course was in great shape and the weather was hot but manageable in a buggy.  The greens were fairly fast and featured a lot of movement from the grain.  I hope I was the only guy to 4-putt out here today!

The 3rd hole at Mountain Shadow G.C.

I guess I have to take back what I said about Phil not placing lately.  Here he is, right up there with Kenny and John as a shocking 29 points got these 3 guys tied for third place.  If you thought the sound of Kenny’s jaw dropping was loud, then Martin’s was a firecracker.  Martin popped in hours after the presentation only to find Phil delivering a happy card to him at 10:00.  Befuddled ain’t the word, and thank you Martin for that donation to our Caddy Smile programme!

I will end this report with a complaint to Mountain Shadow about the locker room.  We need to have the air-con on or at the very least some fans to cool things down after you shower.  I mean really, would it kill the electricity budget to have the air on for a couple of hours as the guys come in after the round?  You couldn’t even get dried off it was that sweltering!
