The Backyard Golf Society

Driving down to Emerald last Friday morning, it looked as if we would be rained off and heading back home quickly, but as we went to the first tee the inclement weather eased off and in fact we had a generally dry, if heavy underfoot, round of golf.  The course was actually in good condition considering the recent rains and the staff had managed to mow some previously jungle-like areas.

The winner of the stableford comp today was Owen, one of our newer members, so new indeed that we have yet to give him a nickname, so watch this space.

Near-pin went to the bloke formerly known as Golden Trowel’s boyfriend, who early Saturday morning took off to Chiang Mai so his son’s wife would not be subjected to the distractions in Pattaya!  So far as we know there are bars in C.M. too but who knows how a woman’s mind works?

The big winner in the skins was the same Mr. Oz with 9.  Who BRought him (complete with his blister) won 4, there were doubles to The Quiet Man and Owen (still no nickname) and we have one rollover to next week.

We have a couple of returned players, with The Biss back (for good?) from the land of the pharaohs) and Russell, “He’s a Victorian” back from his Australian adventure.  Rumour has it that Beaker Larsen will also return soon so we should see regular Backyard reports from now on.
