The Royal Thai Navy again flexed its muscles at the 16th Pattaya Takraw Tournament, taking first place in the headline bracket.

The Aug. 24-27 tournament at the Eastern National Indoor Sports Stadium was sponsored by the Pattaya Business and Tourism Association, Takraw Association of Thailand and Pattaya City Hall to promote the sport and tourism.

Teams were split into four men’s divisions, a women’s bracket and youth group.  The men’s groups had two “open” categories, ages 40-49, and 50 and up.

The navy’s Rajanawee team won 25,000 baht for the taking first place in the Open A feature bracket.  The Pattaya City team won the 15,000-baht second-place prize while the Krasornrasee team won 8,000 baht for coming third.

The navy also won the 2013 tournament.

The other brackets awarded prizes of 15,000, 8,000 and 5,000 for first through third places, respectively.

In the Open B bracket, the winners were, in order, the HP Team, Tesabal Bohploy and Pattaya City.

The 40-something category’s winners were the Airport Team, Police Club and Sattahip Takraw Club. The over-50 bracket’s top three were the Air Force Club, Honda Team and Second Runner Ruengsri Khon Kaen.

The top three women’s finishers were Pattaya City, Ratchaburi Trakraw Club and the Chonburi Team.

Finally, the youth team winners were the Honda Team, Ubon Ratchathani School No. 1 and Ubon School No. 2.
