Navy Club wins big at Pattaya Takraw Tournament

The Royal Thai Navy flexed its muscles at the 13th Pattaya Takraw Tournament, taking first place in two of five categories.

The Aug. 15-17 multinational tournament at Pattaya School No. 7 was sponsored by the Pattaya Business and Tourism Association, Takraw Association of Thailand, and Pattaya City Hall to promote the sport and tourism.

Teams were split into four men’s divisions and one women’s group.  The men’s group were open, non-national and Thai League athletes, and aged 40-49, and 50 and up.  The women’s group was an open category.

The Navy Club won first place trophies in both the men’s open and 40-49 brackets, taking home 25,000 baht and 8,000 baht, respectively.

Second place in the open bracket went to the Chonburi Club for 15,000 baht while Pattaya City and PE’s team tied for third, each getting 8,000 baht.

In the 40-49 category, TOT’s team placed second for 5,000 baht while the Payahong and Lucky teams split the 6,000 baht third place prize.

The non-national bracket was won by the South Korea 1 team for 20,000 baht.  Second place was made by Ban Don Phuket for 10,000 baht and third placed tied between the Pitak’s and South Korea 2 teams, winning 6,000 baht each.
