PSC Golf from The Outback Golf Bar

Monday, August 10, Burapha – Stableford

1st Bob Lindborg (25) 41pts

2nd Kim Danboise (15) 40pts

3rd Michael Padilla (28) 40pts

4th Neil Hughes (15) 40pts

5th Ivan Plunkett (27) 38pts

Six groups played A and B in cool overcast conditions.  Looking at our recent scores on this course we may have to go back to playing off the blue tees until the rain comes and the fairways become wet to make the course play longer.

Bob Lindborg was the winner today with 41 points ahead of a three-way count back on 40 that saw of Kim Danboise, Mike Padilla and Neil Hughes finish in that order.  Ivan Plunkett followed in next to take the final podium spot with 38.

Kim Danboise, Peter Nixon, Dennis Pelly and Murray Hart all had ‘2’s.

Division 2 (18+)

Today’s golf outing was very well attended, with many happy faces back at the bar for the presentations a special congratulations to ‘Mazza’, who celebrated his wedding anniversary on the same day and enjoyed the evening in style at the Outback.

Greenwood gave us a great rate for the ‘Mothers’ Day’ holiday and we had two divisions out.  Heavy overnight rain meant the ‘lift, clean and place’ ruling was in order and John Cogan won the second division with 35 points, one up on Eddy Beilby in second while John OKeefe took third on 32.

In the top division all three place getters were off a 15-hcp, with new Outback player Ian Halfpenny winning on 36 points from Barry Copestake and Neil Hughes in second and third respectively.

There were no “2’s today.

Friday, August 14, St. Andrews – Stableford

Div 1 (0-16)

1st Murray Hart (15) 45pts

2nd Jean Maffray P (12) 38pts

3rd Kim Danboise (13) 36pts

4th Pat Regan (11) 34pts

Div 2 (17-36)

1st John Stafford (17) 37pts

2nd Willy Van Heetvelde (19) 37pts

3rd John Fitzgerald (20) 34pts

4th Bruce McAdam (26) 34pts

The low season is picking up ever so slightly as today we had 26 players and teed off 20 minutes early with nobody in front and nobody behind us for 5 holes.  The course was in excellent condition but (and there is always a ‘but’) we did have the green keepers cutting the grass while we were playing the course.

The greens on the front nine were slow due to recent rain but on the back nine they had been more recently cut and were much faster, which seemed to reflect in our scores a little bit.

Taking fourth place in the second division after losing out on a count back was Bruce McAdam with 34 points, edged out of third spot by John Fitzgerald on the same score.  Second place went to Willy Van Heetvelde with 37 points after he also lost a count back to division winner John Stafford.

Pat Regan claimed fourth place in the top division with 34 points and third went to Kim Damboise on 36.  JP Maffrey thought he was in with a chance of the win with his 38 point total but it wasn’t quite good enough as Murray Hart occupied the top of the podium with a stunning 45 points.

There were four ‘2’s from Pat Regan, Murray Hart, John Fiztgerald and Suzi Lawton.

To top off another fabulous day at the Outback, Murray (Mazza as we call him) held his daughter’s 6th birthday at the Outback and the day ended in unusual style with balloons and cake.
