Travellers Rest Golf Group

It’s January 2014 and the boys are back in town all looking for a round of golf in the sunshine and to get away from all the brass monkeys back home.  A large influx came into Pattaya this past week from all over the world and it meant every competition had to be divided into two divisions, such were the numbers.  Many old faces were returning and a good number of new faces were here for the first time and all were made welcome at the TRGG.

Monday, Jan. 6, Greenwood – Stableford

On Monday it was off to Greenwood (C and B courses) and in Division 2 Jack Macnamara was having one of those days when everything went right.  In fact Jack said he couldn’t believe some of the things he was doing, he was in dreamland.  He rattled up 43 pts which was easily the best score of the day.

Jay Sher in Division 1 showed that a handicap reduction of three shots the previous week was not going to knock him out of his stride and he shot 37 points to win his division.

Tuesday, Jan. 7, Green Valley – Stableford

Tuesday meant our usual Tuesday visit to Green Valley.  In Division 1 Rocky Jones improved on his third place finish the day before and took first place with an excellent 37 points.  He was the only player to better his handicap on the day and Brendon McEvoy’s 34 was good enough to win Division 2.

Thursday, Jan. 9, The Emerald – Stableford

It was back to Emerald on Thursday and for some the wheels fell off.  Jack Macnamara went from first on Monday to last on Thursday, such are the idiosyncrasies of golf, one minute it makes you feel great and the next it just grates.
